Research Profile
In my dissertation I propose a distance-based multidimensional index structure for multimedia data supporting content-based similarity search in a collaborative environment. The index structure is capable of handling images as well as videos and the typical content-based retrieval strategies of each from within one general framework. I have used social network modeling to visualize the semantic relationships between multimedia data and analyzed their evolving roles when accessed by multiple users in a collaborative search environment. I am investigating to use the results of such analyses to optimize the different functionalities of the index structure. Currently, I am also in the process of embedding the proposed index structure into PostgreSQL database kernel and support range and k-NN search techniques from within the database framework.
