Job Details:
A full-time post-doctorate position in the area of network security is available at the Faculty of
Computer Science, University of New Brunswick. The position is with the Information Security
Centre of Excellence (http://www.iscx.ca). The candidate will work with the members of the research
staff on research, design and development of techniques and algorithms used in Security Information
Management Systems.
Applicants should have (or expect soon to have) a Ph.D. and expertise in one or more of following
research areas:
· Network intrusion detection and prevention.
· Machine learning and data mining
· Computer networks and distributed computing
The following skills and experiences are helpful:
· Development under Linux operating system
· Industrial IDSs and Firewalls; e.g. Cisco IPX, Checkpoint products, Snort
Successful applicants will assist in one or more of following tasks:
· Developing novel learning and mining techniques for intrusion detection, alert correlation, and
data visualization
· Designing and building software prototypes to realize and evaluate the above techniques
· Designing a platform for simulation of network behavior in compromised circumstances
· Writing and submitting the research results for publication
The project is fully funded by Atlantic Canada Opportunities Agency (ACOA) through Atlantic
Innovation Fund (AIF). Salary of the successful applicant commensurate with qualification and
experience. The post-doc appointment is one year and can be extended for 1 more years depending
upon the availability of funding.
