Broad Research Area: Numerical/Scientific Computing / HPC / Data-Intensive Scalable Computing, Other, Theory / Algorithms

Research Interests:

I have published 3 books and over 200 refereed articles in various areas of algorithm design and analysis, theory of computing, numerical computation, symbolic computation, and randomized algorithms (see my URL at http://comet.lehman.cuny.edu/vpan/ which includes the list of my publications). My recent works were on numerical, symbolic, and symbolic-numerical algorithms, using randomization and preprocessing, and on various aspects of computations with general and structured matrices and univariate and multivariate polynomials. The classes of structured matrices included matrices with most popular structures of Toeplitz, Hankel, Vandermonde, and Cauchy types as well as banded and semiseparable (that is, rank structured) matrices. Polynomial computations included rational interpolation and root-finding for polynomials and systems of polynomials
