Broad Research Area: AI / Machine Learning / Robotics / Vision, HCI / CSCW, Social Computing / Social Informatics

Research Interests:

I am interested in a variety of topics focused on intelligent user interfaces, a field that combines techniques from HCI and AI to make usable smart systems. Recently, my research has explored how to leverage traces of user actions on web applications to automate repetitive tasks, make the web more accessible, share what you did with your friends, and predict what you will do next. Other recent projects include task-based email classification, social tagging, and understanding written instructions. More generally, I am interested in end user programming, collaboration, improving personal productivity, and predictive and adaptive user interfaces.
