Posted on: Wednesday, May 20th, 2009
Broad Research Area: Numerical/Scientific Computing / HPC / Data-Intensive Scalable Computing, Theory / Algorithms

Research Interests:

My research interests are in the development of scalable algorithms for scientific simulation. Of particular interest are multigrid and multiscale algorithms for the solution of the PDEs that arise in geophysical and biomedical applications. This work spans the areas of numerical analysis (finding accurate discretizations for the governing partial differential equations), algorithm design and analysis (both designing and proving optimality of multigrid solution algorithms), and implementation in high-performance computing environments. Current research projects include designing fast solvers for problems from quantum chromodynamics, geophysical fluids flows, and imaging, as well as the theoretical analysis of these algorithms.
