Keywords: temporal databases, query optimization, science of computer science, compliant databases

Posted on: Thursday, May 5th, 2011
Broad Research Area: Databases / Information Retrieval / Data Mining

Research Interests:

I have three ongoing research interests. The first is ergalics, the science of computer science, specifically about generating and testing causal predictive models. I have focused on such models for database management systems, though I am open to work that strives to develp such models for other classes of software systems. This is my primary research interest. The second is temporal databases, in all incarnations, including conceptual design, logical design, physical design, query languages, query processing, storage structures, and XML. The third is compliant databases, that is, DBMS architectures and approaches to support trustworthy, tamper-proof data that is compliant with laws such as Sarbanes-Oxley. Please see the publications on my web site and the research projects also listed there for more information.
