Research Interests:

My research group works on two different areas
• Spatial Audio and Computational Sound Scene Analysis:
I have been fascinated by the way humans effortlessly use spatial sound for making sense of the environment. A desire to understand the mechanisms used and to provide machines with the same capabilities has been a driver
in this research. The use of computing, mathematical physics and experiments have characterized this work.

• Large Scale Scientific Computing
In scientific computing I focus on very large problems using approximation algorithms and parallel computing. The work has been driven by applications in audio, speaker ID, vision, physics, and machine learning. The focus here is on extending algorithms based on the fast-multipole method, and the use of data-parallel architectures to achieve orders of magnitude speed-ups.
