Research Interests:
In recent work we have developed apprenticeship learning algorithms, which leverage human demonstrations to teach a computer how to perform challenging tasks. This has enabled us to solve some challenging real-world control problems. Our results include the first autonomous helicopter to perform human expert level aerobatics, far beyond the capabilities of any other autonomous helicopter to-date. Currently, we are investigating furthering the apprenticeship learning paradigm and also developing algorithms for autonomous learning. Application area of particular interest are personal robotics, medical robotics and autonomous flight. We also investigate motion planning and computer vision with applicability in these areas.
