Research Interests:

I am an associate professor in Computer Science and Engineering at Washington University where I am a member of the Applied Research Laboratory (ARL). While my interests span several areas of computer and networking systems, my current research projects focus on: A) designing multicore processors and memory systems, B) building fast, programmable network routers with multicore processors, and C) building novel networks that use fast, programmable network routers.

Two additional research directions have become important to me. In recent years, we have made some major impacts in flexible pattern search on multi-gigabit network links. Also, If you are intrepid, you might be interested in a new project, kicking off this summer, to design and prototype a personal computing platform capable of instrumenting and digitizing the basic factors of human activity.

In 2007, I was invited to join the DARPA Computer Science Study Panel. Previously, I was a graduate student at the University of Washington and an undergraduate at Illinois Wesleyan University.
