Broad Research Area: Computer Science Education / Educational Technology, Other, Technology Policy

Research Interests:

I am interested in changing what we teach and how we teach. In large (300+) classes to small seminars. From CS1 and CS2 to a course that’s IP^2 = internet protocol X intellectual property for non-majors. I’d like to design courses and modules around problems first, techniques and skills seconds. Help change education at Duke and then across the country with the roll out/pilot of a new AP course being developed by the College Board with sponsorship from NSF. Problems are the heart of all these initiatives, but developing and using problems is a complex though rewarding undertaking
