Research Interests:

Our research thesis is to develop large-scale data-intensive analytics platform that combines massively parallel data management with massively parallel data analytics, to extract insights from a combination of structured, unstructured, static and streaming data. We also research on novel applications in industrial contexts, such as retail intelligence, consumer social media, environmental sensing and energy production and operations management, that depend on such an analytics platform for scalabiility and performance.
We are particularly interested in candidates who have experience and knowledge in one or more of the following areas:
• Data mining for time series analysis, real time analytics, incremental algorithms, and event stream processing.
• Analytics over mobile social media and information extraction from text; Web 2.0 applications and consumer analytics.
• Implications of multi-core, parallel co-processors, and flash devices on dat a management and analytics
• Large scale data warehousing (data integration, query optimization, workload management), design of robust query processing algorithms and adaptive indexing
