Broad Research Area: AI / Machine Learning / Robotics / Vision, Databases / Information Retrieval / Data Mining, Information Systems / Information Science, Mobile / Ubiquitous / Embedded Computing

Research Interests:

Develop a theory of smart systems. The adjective “smart” is applied to phones, the electric grid, buildings, cities, water supply, transportation and many other systems. This research explores the theoretical foundations underlying the variety of smart systems. The goal of the research is to apply computer science theory, operations research including statistics and machine learning, and control theory to develop a theory of smart systems, and to then apply the theory to design components of the smart grid and other cyber physical systems.
