Keywords: assistive technology, sustainability

Posted on: Wednesday, May 27th, 2009
Broad Research Area: HCI / CSCW, Mobile / Ubiquitous / Embedded Computing, Other, Social Computing / Social Informatics

Research Interests:

My work is currently focused on two threads: (1) My work in sustainability explores how to leverage low-cost sensing and large-scale social networks to support individuals in reducing their energy use. Our current work is focusing on low-income communities. (2) My work in assistive technology is focused on how individuals manage chronic conditions online (including how they decide what information to trust and how we can use machine learning to help support this process), and how everyday technologies can be made more accessible (we are currently gathering a very large data set of every day computer use and using machine learning to figure out what adaptations would be most useful to a given individual)
