Broad Research Area: Databases / Information Retrieval / Data Mining, Networks / Operating Systems, Theory / Algorithms
Research Interests:
Postdoctoral research positions are available at the Cooperative
Association for Internet Data Analysis (CAIDA) at UCSD. Successful
candidates will focus on the analysis of the Internet and other
complex networks’ topologies, and their efficiency with respect to
different routing/navigation strategies, as well as other forms of
information propagation processes that run on complex networks.
The work will involve processing massive datasets of real network
topologies, performing intensive simulations, and carrying out
elaborate analytic calculations. These positions support an
interdisciplinary project between computer science/engineering and
physics/mathematics, so both solid programming skills (C, Perl,
etc.) as well as strong analytic skills are highly desirable;
knowledge of MATLAB, Mathematica, etc., is a plus. The successful
candidate will also perform other standard tasks, such as writing
scientific papers, assisting in preparing research proposals,
presenting at conferences, etc.
